Black Love Day was founded January 1, 1993, by Mama Ayo Handy-Kendi as divine revelation from her Creator. The holiday was born out of Mama Ayo’s desire to help stop the violence and increase the peace in the Black community. The holiday was launched in the office of Washington, DC Mayor, Sharon Pratt Kelly.

Join the Celebration of Black Love Day by demonstrating Love for 24 Hours! Love for The Creator, Love For Self, Love For Family, Love For the Black Community and Love For The Black Diaspora! These are the five tenets of Black Love Day.
